Our Lord took Edward J. Podrez, 94, to his heavenly home Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

Edward was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Pulaski, the son of Albin and Josephine (Ziolkowski) Podrez. He was united in marriage to Mollie Albrecht on Sept. 27, 1939, at St. Anthony's Parish, Park Falls.

His life was lived with integrity and a dedicated work ethic. Edward was an accomplished entrepreneur. He owned and operated various businesses, foremost among them a Ford dealership, the Downtown Tap tavern, Park Falls Motel, Shawano Resort and other real estate interests.
Edward displayed a special relish for the simple joys of life, a creative temperament, and love of family -- especially for his true love and unfailing helpmate, Mollie.

Edward is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mollie; his daughter, Nancy (Jim) Chesley of Houston; and grandchildren, Todd (Maria) Chesley and Wendy Womack; daughter, Mary Seeley of Sayner and grandchildren, Mark (Linda) Seeley, Jeff (Julie) Seeley and Brian (Asagi) Seeley; daughter, Helen (Benno) Lang of Wausau and grandchildren, James (Amy) Lang, Bonnie (Jeff) Pagel and Randy (Amy) Lang; 10 great-grandchildren, Alec, Samara, Haley, Jacob, Megan, Emi, Jackie, Jarrett, Katrina and Ashley; a sister, Lillian (Blagie) Vicentijevic of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Ronald Seeley; four brothers, Eugene, Harry, John and Leon Podrez; and his sister, Emily Pongratz.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at the Church of St. Anne, 700 W. Bridge St., Wausau. The Rev. Steve Brice will officiate. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Aspirus Hospice House and Aspirus Palliative Care for their compassion and assistance. The family also extends special thanks to Father Steve Brice for his exceptional guidance and support.
