Charles W. Albert, 81, of Westminster, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at his residence, after an extended illness. Born Dec. 18, 1930, in Westminster, he was the son of the late William Albert and Helen Dutterer Albert. He was the husband of Suzanne Pittman Chambers Albert.

He lived in Severna Park and Pasadena before moving back to Westminster with his wife in 1988. He and his wife were married in 1954, after completing his service with the U.S. Army in Japan. He enjoyed playing sports at Westminster High School and Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College. He was a research chemist and crystallographer, and worked in politics whereby he complied and published "Carroll County Election Results for Federal, State and Local Offices, 1837-2000." He especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Patrice Suzanne Hedrick and Christine Verona Sarigianis; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Albert, who died in 1974.

The family will received at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. A celebration of life service was held at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Bare officiating.

Private interment will be in Kriders Cemetery.
