On May 18, 1884 in Smith County, Tennessee Sidney married Clodia Margaret Wyatt, the daughter of Sarah A (Dillard) and William F. Wyatt. Clodia was born in Tennessee on November 17, 1868. They raised a large family including: William Herschel (1885 - 1903), Charles E (1888 - 1977), Clyde Clinton (1890 - 1948), Lillian E (1893 - 1985), Hayden Harry (1895 - 1973), Henry Clay (1898 - 1988), Pearl Dimple (1902 - 1994), John Wyatt (1904 - 1970), Beulah Bell (1907 - 1974).
Their eldest son William Herschel died at the age of 18. He had been swimming in a river with John Franklin Wyatt, Jr (a distant cousin). When Herschel saw that John was in trouble and likely to drown, he tried to save him, but instead, they both drowned on June 28, 1903.
By the 1910 Census, the Johnson family were living in Macon County, Tennessee. Macon is a neighboring county to Smith county.
On March 13, 1926 Sidney passed away in Lafayette, Macon County, Tennessee of angina pectoris. Clodia passed away less than a year later on January 15, 1927, also in Lafayette.
