Daniel first married Eula Stilson and then to Faye Dewald Ahern, no children of either marraige.
Daniel's parents were Nicodemus and Nellie Chaney.
He attended the Univ. of NE. and graduated from the Williams School of Mortuary Science in K.C. MO.
During WWI, he enlisted in the Navy in Lincoln, NE. on Nov. 26, 1917 and served on the USS Rhode Island as a Gunners Mate. He was discharged on Jan. 26, 1919 in VA.
Dan moved to Falls City, NE. with his mother and brother, Charles F. Chaney when they purchased the McGeer Furniture Store. He then started the Chaney Funeral Home, located in the store and then moved the mortuary business to the location occuied by the Kozy Theater.
He married Sept. 22, 1922 to Eula Stilson of Atkinson, NE. she died Aug. 13, 1926 and he then married Faye Dewald Ahern on Aug. 8, 1937 who passed away Feb. 4, 1974.
Faye had a son Bernard Ahern of a previous marriage.
He was involved in many organizations. He died June 28, 1979.
