Dakota Joe Lane, 4, Muskogee, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Dakota was born August 27, 2006 to Chris and Stephanie Lane. Dakota attended the Early Childhood Center. He would always say he "woves" school. He was especially good in school so he could get in the treasure chest on Friday. He was super smart and meticulous and had a love for learning, telling stories, and making his friends laugh. He enjoyed playing with his friends. One of his favorite things to do was to dress up in his Batman and Spiderman costumes and run around like super heroes. He also enjoyed playing army with his brother Jon. Dakota and Jon loved to rough house and tell on each other for fighting. His favorite color was green. When he would visit Mimi and Papa he would always ask Papa for money for Mimi to go to the Dollar store. Dakota loved his blanket "Softy Soft". He liked to lie on "Softy Soft" and suck his thumb. Dakota had a favorite saying, "It's not Friday." He would tell his Papa, "You can't tickle me, it's not Friday." He would say, "I can't clean my room, it's not Friday." He told secrets to everyone but would say, "You can't tell mom it's not Friday." Dakota didn't like to fish but would go just to spend time with whoever took him and then would want to leave 5 minutes later. Dakota loved to eat his Papa Jack's Jolly Ranchers. He is preceded in death by his Great Grandfather Wayne Moltsau, Great Grandfather Jack Bumgarner Sr., and Great Grandfather Philip Runyon; Great Grandmother LaVena Lane; and cousins Baby Faith Carlson and Hannah Belle Barney. He is survived by his father and mother, Chris and Stephanie Lane, his brother Jon Lane and unborn brother Easton Lane; Grandparents Jon and Tina Lane, Jack Jr. and Lori Bumgarner; Great Grandparents Dianne Cook, Helen Bumgarner, Douglas and Dorothy Barney, Jack and Mary Lane, and Robert Pruitt; Great-Great Grandparent Verna Story; aunts and uncles Cody and Rebecca McVey, Cassie Davis and fiancé Dustin Vandiver, Brandon and Brandi Lane; God Parents Corey and Dorothy Ford; and hundreds of cousins, great aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Lifepoint Church 2200 S. 32nd in Muskogee with Pastor Jack Manley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
