Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, October 22, 1918, pg 8 col 4: Mrs. Annie King Dies. Mrs. Annie Deering King, widely known Chico woman, died late last night at her home on Bidwell avenue of Spanish influenza.

Mrs. King was for years night operator in the Chico telephone exchange, and later conducted a millinery store here. She was thirty-two years old, a native of Orland.

Among her surviving relatives are her widower, M.E. King, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Deering. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Chico Record, Wednesday Morning, October 23, 1918, pg 8 col 2: Mrs. Annie D. King To Be Buried Today. Mrs. Annie Deering King, who passed away late Monday night at her home on Fruitvale avenue from Spanish influenza, will be laid to rest today in Chico cemetery following funeral services to be held at 2:30 at the Engel chapel, Rev. William Clark, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating.

Mrs. King was widely known here, and her untimely passing was mourned by her many friends yesterday.

Surviving her are her widower, Merle King; two small children, Merlin and Donald King; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Deering; two sisters, Mrs. C.B. Whitmoyer and Miss Ellen Deering, and two brothers, Will C. Deering and Ellsworth Deering, all of Chico.
