Wampum- Elmer C. Aley, 73, of 604 N. Cedar St., New Castle died at 8:35 p.m. yesterday in Jameson Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born in Wampum May 1, 1898 to the late Ellsworth and Carrie Shell Aley. He was retired in 1963 from the Bessemer Cement Co.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lillian Houk, and two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Sparks of New Castle and Mrs. Norman (Laure) Gleghorn of Enon Valley; a son Charles at home; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Guy of Wampum RD 1; a brother, Ellsworth of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Harold J. marshall funeral Home, Main st. from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Charles Durbin of Chewton Christian Church. Burial will be in Slippery Rock UP Church cemetery at Ellwood City.
