NORFOLK — Services for Cynthia L. Anderson, 61, of Norfolk will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Burial will be in New Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Home for Funerals.
Cindy Anderson, a longtime resident of Norfolk, died from complications related to lung cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. She was 61.
A devoted mother, spouse, and educational paraprofessional, Cindy was also respected for her love and talent for various forms of needlework.
Cindy married Larry Kent Anderson on Aug. 17, 1974, at Golgotha Lutheran Church near Wausa. The couple lived in Lincoln, Omaha and Plainview before settling in Norfolk in 1979. Together they raised four sons, Todd Michael, Trent Matthew, Travis Mark and Timothy Milan, all of whom were born approximately two years apart.
For 16 years Cindy served as a teaching assistant at Grant Elementary. She enjoyed working and building relationships with her students in support of their learning, both in school and as an after-school tutor. Cindy also taught Sunday school for 12 years at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Family members and friends looked to Cindy for her unique quilting, crocheting, knitting, stitching and sewing abilities. Often using her own designs, Cindy created countless dresses, quilts, Christmas stockings and tapestries, among other things. She often said that each and every item was special because of the love and care she put into every stitch.
Born June 1, 1949, Cindy grew up on the Lauck farm south of Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1967. She attended Lincoln School of Commerce before working for the State of Nebraska Workers Compensation Board in Lincoln.
Surviving Cindy are Larry and the four boys; daughter-in-law Sara and two grandchildren, Gavin Zachariah and Reese Madalyn; as well as two brothers, David Lauck and Gordon Lauck; and four sisters, Sharon Kalcik, LuAnn Zerbe, Colleen Wurst and Colette Burnett.
Cindy's mother and father, Arlynn (Frevert) and Herman Lauck, as well as her brother, Brian, and sister Marcia preceded her in death.
