He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Springfield, the son of Carl and Nellie Buhr Bomke. He married Norma Henderson; she died in 1969. He then married Teresa Lyons in Springfield in 1977. An infant son, Gary Lee, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Bomke retired in 1993 after working 12 years as manager of Farina Poultry Farms. He worked at Reiser Construction in Pleasant Plains and was road commissioner of Garden Township for 12 years. He was a member of First General Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Teresa; a son, Terry (wife, Diana) Bomke of Riverton; a daughter, Marla (husband, John) Unger of Vista, Calif.; two stepsons, Richard VanDyke of Shelbyville and Craig (wife, Connie) VanDyke of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Brenda (husband, Lee) Levinson of St. Louis and Catherine (husband, Paul) Schanbacher of Champaign; six grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; a sister, Millie (husband, Clem) Baniatas of Springfield; a brother, Clarence (wife, Marie) Bomke of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Bisch Funeral Home West, the Rev. Clinton D. Cook officiating. Burial: Farmington Cemetery.
