John was the son of John Michael and Cornelia Jane (Andrews) Garrett. He married (1) Nellie Victoria Leonard and they had three sons: John Maxwell Jr., Robert Carl, and Clifford Lee. He later married (2)Juanita Lillian Perry and they had three children: Alfred Joel, Charlotte Ann and Jeffrey Cletus.

JULIAN - J. Max Garrett Sr., 77, of Rt. 1 died Friday at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Coble's Lutheran Church. The family will be at Greeson and Neece Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today.
