St. Clair - Arthur J. Ellery, 87, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1988.
He was born Aug. 12, 1901 in St. Clair.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1985.
Mr. Ellery was retired from the Diamond Crystal Salt Co.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Clair Council 2251.
He had been active in the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary since 1945.
He is survived by six sons, Robert and Bernard, both of St. Clair, William of Richmond, Herbert of Willsville, Utah, Arthur Jr. of Cocoa, Fla. and George of Grotin, Conn.; four daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Virginia) Friederichs of Marine City, Mrs. Leo (Roselyn) Distelrath of ST. Clair, Mrs. Mary Lou Cornette of Port Huron and Mrs. Gerald (Diana) Loming of Smiths Creek; 58 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:15 A.M. Saturday in the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home-St. Clair Highway Chapel and at 11 A.M. in St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Edward Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary' s Cemetery.
Visiting is from 7 to 9 P.M. today and 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. Friday.
A rosary will be said at 8 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Ellery's grandsons and alter boys will be his great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the U..S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Knights of Columbus.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Scholarship Fund or the donor's choice.
