John, 84 of Howell, formerly of Fowlerville, passed away Thursday. He was the son of John J. and Sarah (Payne) Hughes, Sr. Beloved husband of Joyce Latson-Hughes whom he married September 14, 1991 in Howell. Dear father of John "Jack" (Beverly) Hughes of Overland Park, KS, Judy Shaffer of St. Louis, MO, Joel (Carol) Hughes of Ottawa Lake, MI, Jamie (Mike) Hernden of Fowlerville and Cheryl Latson of Howell. Also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive "Bonnie" and sister, Katherine Gaffner. John had retired as an engineer for Master Cast (Alpha Technology) in Howell. He was a life member of Webberville Masons and former Boy Scout leader as well as a WW II Navy veteran.

Funeral services were Monday at MacDonald's Funeral Home, Howell.
