William McFarland Lewis was born 01 Mar 1817 in Paoli, Orange County, Ind, and died 01 Feb 1891 in Leon County, Texas.

He married Mary Ann Sudduth in Texas, daughter of Henry Sudduth and Sarah Golden. She was born Abt. 1820 in
Georgia, and died 02 Jun 1884 in Orange, Texas.

List in the Texas Civil War Indigent families after the civil war. Thought to be born 3-1-1817 according to information supplied by descendant Roland Mack Lewis 2-2-1974.

Applied for Pension as soldier during Texas fight for Independence from Mexico, 12-15-1870. Member of Captain Jas Chessher's Co. spring and summer 1836.

Descendants of the old Samuel S. Lewis family, Martin Baty Lewis., Mack Farland Lewis and John Taylor Lewis, who settled before there was much Texas History in Newton County and each had his allotted 1280 acres of land. Note: These men descended from Samuel Lewis and Sarah LeMaster Lewis.
