OBITUARY: The Hugo Daily News, December 15, 1974: Carl Askew, Sr Dies Sunday, Rites Pending A Hugo pioneer druggist, Carl Askew, Sr., died in St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. He was 71. Mr. Askew was born in Yowell, Texas April 21, 1903, the son of Dr. Edward and Maude Askew. They came to Hugo when he was 6 months of age. A retired pharmacist, Mr. Askew has served as treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church for over 25 years and also was a church elder for many years. He lives at 312 East Bluff Street. Survivors include his wife, Helen; one son, Carl Askew, Jr. of Hugo; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Walden of Sioux Falls, N. D.; his mother Mrs. Maude Askew, and two grandchildren.
