Alpha Askew -- Alpha Askew a resident of Hugo died Friday in the Golden Age Home. She was 88. Mrs. Askew was a member of the Church of Christ. She was born May 9, 1901 in Cooper, Texas, the daughter of C. J. and Mary Kernell. She had lived in Hugo area for 70 years. Her husband, Tobe Askew, proceded her in death on June 19, 1962. Survivors include a son, Lawrence Askew of Hugo; a daughter, Helen Ridgeway of Phoenix, Ariz; a sister, Agnes Kleinclaus of Pasadena, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Graveside services were held today at 10 a.m. in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Rev. Mutt Wallace directed. The Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo was in charge of arrangements.
