Hugo, Ok. - Lawrence Askew, 72, of Hugo died Friday, Aug. 28, at Golden Age Nursing Home. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in the First Baptist Church of Hugo with the Rev. Doug McClure officiating. Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home made burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Askew was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Hugo, a son of Gordon W. and Alpha D. Kernell Askew. He married Mary Jim Lanious July 21, 1939. He was a retired operator of a wrecker service and a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife; a son, Jim Askew of Stillwater; a sister, Helen Ridgeway and one grandson, Steve Askew of Oklahoma City.
