Anthony taught Romance languages(Italian, Spanish and French) and helped introduce Italian to the school curriculum of Philadelphia.
Some of the high schools he taught at were: William Penn High School, West Philadelphia High School, Northeast High School and South Philadelphia High School.
He married twice. The first marriage was to Teresa Mangano (1897-1994) in 1923 which produced one son, John Mangano Rosa(1925-2002). The marriage was over before the birth of the son. In 1929, he remarried to Katharine Cassady(1895-1988) by which was born a daugher, Nancy Ellen Rosa(1930-2004).
Anthony was a beloved teacher in his career. One of his students, Alfredo Cocozza, later became known as Mario Lanza.
