His father died September 17, 1891 and his mother died June 1, 1918.
He leaves to mourn his departure, two sisters, Mrs. Malone of Hollywood, California and Mrs. C. H. Rust of Hutchinson, Kansas and a brother, Bert Shanks, of Douglass.
He had been in failing health for several years and gradually grew worse until the end came last Thrusday night in El Dorado.
Funeral services were held at the Irwin Funeral Home Saturday afternoon by Rev. George Watts. Burial was in Douglass Cemetery.
