His Journal: Arrived in Atchison Co MO, Nov 8, 1866; planted potatoes Apr 8, 1867; worked for William Pilant 1867; April 15, 1867 snowed Excellsior, Atchison Co. MO. First four children born in Lawrence, KS; Feb 19, thru April 1870 Lawrence, KS; in Linn Co, KS 26 Apr 1872; arrived in Taney Co MO Sept 2, 1872, moved on the farm north of Taneyville Sept 15, 1873, where the remaining children were born;
Thomas Jefferson Stout was wounded in the neck, in the Civil War on 29 May 1864, In Dallas, Ga. [Adjutant General's Office Report] Service Record: Enlisted in Company I, Ohio 39th Infantry Regiment on 04 Jul 1861. Promoted to Full Corporal on 05 Apr 1865. Mustered out on 09 Jul 1865 at Louisville, KY. As a result of his neck wound, he died at age 42. His youngest son, Jefferson, was born on the 13th of November 1883, after his father's death 5 August 1883.
