Horace E. Cogle Jr., 75, of Moss Farm Road, Cheshire died Monday (June 13, 2006) at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington.

He was the husband of Shirley (Carlson) Cogle. Mr. Cogle was born July 17, 1930 in Middlebury the son of the late Horace E. and Anna (Lacy) Cogle Sr.

He was a life long resident of Cheshire. He was the owner and operator of Cogle's Appliance in Cheshire having worked for R.W. Hine prior to opening his own business and was a lifetime member of the Cheshire Fire Department having served 27 years where he held the rank of Lieutenant and Secretary.

He loved helping others. Mr. Cogle was a member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire and a frequent donor in area blood banks. His hobbies included collecting lighters and reading Louie Lamour books. He enjoyed gardening, puzzle books, and jokes.

Besides his wife of 55 years Mr. Cogle is survived by three sons, Kenneth S. Cogle of Hartford, Jeffery R. Cogle and his wife, Cynthia of Cheshire, and Larry P. Cogle and his wife, Denise of Auburn, ME; a sister, Dorothy Smith Kunde of Titusville, FL; a very special nephew, William Kunde of Cheshire and his wife, Joanne; a nephew, Brian Kunde of Brighton, CO; a niece, Lacy Carta of Titusville, FL; two grandsons, Colin and Timothy Cogle of Cheshire; and two granddaughters, Kayla and Sadie Cogle of Auburn, ME.

Burial was held in Hillside Cheshire Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
