Hal married Sarah Ann "Sallie" Mullins 1820-1893 on August 2, 1842 in Lawrence County, now Colbert County, Alabama.
They had seven children, three daughters and four sons. Two daughters, Ellen and Rebecca, married Lockett brothers in Cass County, Texas.
Their children were:
Ellen Rand Lockett 1843-1934
Martha Curtis "Mattie" Rand Coke 1845-1938
Jacob Parker Rand 1847-1925
Rebecca Rand Lockett 1849-1925
Edwin J. Rand 1852-1943
William Harrison Rand, Jr. 1856-1943
Tignal Jones Rand 1859-1869
There is no record of an eight child named Luther Rand which has been added by the manager of Luther Rand's memorial, who he indicates is black, whose father is Harold Rand, and had a different mother. Hal's only wife would have been 61 at that time and there is no record of a second spouse.
From another contributor, whose information has not been verified:
"They moved in 1826, along with her sisters and their families, to what is now Colbert County, AL. Hal moved to Cass County, near the Marion County town of Lodi, in the early 1850s."
Hal also had a Black Mistress name Anne Albrooks Rand. With her, he had at least 6 children. Perhaps 7. This was reported by CNN on 06/01/2009, but previously reported by CNN in 2008 in CNN;s documentary "Black in America". This has been subsequently reported on by Soledad O'Brien in her "Matter of Fact" TV Series, on 11/26/2023, which episode was repeated on 12/23/2023.
