Mrs. Alice Sharkey Of Momence Dies At St. Mary Hospital
MOMENCE - (JNS) - Mrs. Alice Sharkey, 69, a resident of Momence for the past 57 years, died at 43 p.m. Monday at St. Mary hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Sharkey's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Morris, died last November as a result of injuries they incurred in an automobile crash north of Momence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sharkey are to be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday from the Momence Baptist church with the Rev. W. O. Klophfenstein officiating. Burial will be in Momence cemetery. The body is at the Canaday funeral home where friends may call this evening and until the hour of the services.
Mrs. Sharkey was born Dec. 6, 1880 in Newton county, Ind., and moved to Momence when she was 12 years of age. She was married to Lee Sharkey on Dec. 5, 1899 and they marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary less than a month ago. She was a member of the Baptist church and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving are the husband, a carpenter; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Anstrom of Momence and Mrs. Ruby Westfall of South Chicago Heights; a brother, Arthur Stephens of Kankakee; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
