James stated that he ran away from home at age 15 after his father was killed in Vicksburg because his stepfather was mean to him. This would mean that James Henry came to Mississippi in 1878 and lived in Yazoo County near Eden with a family by the name of Mathews until he married .
Only once did one of his step brothers come for a visit some time in the 1920's. The half brother was described by other family members as having long shaggy hair and being barefoot. His name was Lovett and was from Alabama.
James Henry died April 12, 1924 and is buried in the Locust Grove Cemetery located Highway 16 W from Conton, Benton High School on left, turn right, go to old store onto Hwy432/433, stay on 433 to right at Zeighville, turn left at old store. Graveyard is on the left about 1 mile
