George Lee Ashley was the eldest son of William Ashley and Sarah Collins. He was born March 9, 1822 in Freetown, Massachusetts. He married Sarah Waitstill Crapo "Waity" on February 17, 1842 in Vermont. Sarah was the daughter of George Crapo and Rachel Crossman. George and Sarah had 6 children: William b: 1843, George b: 1845, Collins b: 1847 d: 1851, Henry b: 1848 d: 1851, Alta b: 1851 and Alice b: 1855. Per both the 1860 and 1870 Census records, George was a blacksmith. He died in Rindge, New Hampshire on April 16, 1877.
