Her mother saved a newspaper clipping, unidentified & hand marked with the date 1883: 'It is with the deepest regret we announce the death, last Wednesday afternoon, of our little friend, Margie Boyd. Her death was caused by a tumor in the head, which grew to an enormous size, dislodging the eye and causing her intense suffering. Margie was well known to many of the little folks of Marcus by whom she will be sadly remembered.' NOTE: The date etched on the tombstone is b. Sep 30, 1875.. but family records say 1874..and her sister was born in April of 1876. She died in O'Brien County, IA. They may have brought the remains back to Ames when they left O'Brien County?? or this may just be a memorial marker??
