C.H. Allen married May E. Conklin on 17 September 1889 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The marriage license was filed in Black Hawk County, Iowa. She preceded him in death leaving two daughters.
In June 1910, C.H. Allen married Mrs. Eola Matthews in Winona, Mississippi. The couple moved to Abilene in 1914 from Jacksonville, Texas.
Services for Dr. C.H. Allen were held at St. Paul's Methodist Church. Services at the grave were directed by the Masonic Lodge of which Dr. Allen has been a member since 1895. Dr. Allen graduated from Heading College in Illinois and from business college in Davenport, Iowa. In 1892 Dr. Allen obtained his first special degree from the Optical College in Peoria, Illinois. In 1894, on account of his poor health, he moved to Galveston County, Texas, and then in 1895, he moved to Mart, Texas, where he became a member of the Methodist Church, serving as steward during his stay there. Dr. Allen returned to the north for further study of his profession. In 1907, he received the degree of Doctor of Optics at Northern Illinois College of Chicago.
Survived by his wife; daughters - Mrs. L.E. Bennett, Miss Elizabeth Allen; step-daughter - Mrs. A.E. Allen; his mother; three sisters - Mrs. F.A. Fleming, Mrs Frank Hoxie, MRs. C.A. Hickok.
