Though his headstone says 1870 for his year of birth, census records seem to indicate he was born in 1858. Rev Findley as he was always called (even by his wife) was born in Bedford Co. Pennsylvania and worked as a traveling minister. On April 1, 1884 he graduated from the Canton School of Elocution. In 1890 he earned his B.A. from Butler University in Indiana. In 1907 he earned his Masters degree from the University of Chicago and earned a PhD from the Christian Bible College of Colorado in 1925. Was a member of the Disciples of Christ and started up many churches from Ohio to Colorado from the late 1880's until he moved to Longmont in 1920. in 1891 he was in Indiana officiating a wedding. 1898, 1899 and 1900 was listed as the head of three different churches in the Chicago area. After starting up several churches in Larimer co. Colorado and Southeast Colorado, he married Mary Bedford, daughter of John Thomas Bedford. They married in Las Animas Colorado on Feb 22 1922 or 2-22-22 and then settled in Longmont. He earned a Doctorate of Sacred Literature from The Christian Bible College of Colorado in June of 1925. At the time of his death he was the Minister of the Christian Church of Longmont, during one of it's brightest periods. He was minister for 8 years. He also organized the Christian Church of Frederick Colorado and was a Freemason. He was buried July 6 1928.
