In 1885 the Orcutt family traveled to Los Angeles, California from November until the month of April for the health of their son George. Clinton Orcutt returned to Omaha for a couple of months for business reasons. In 1886 newspaper articles noted they returned to Los Angeles for health reasons. It is more than likely that George had consumption. Los Angeles was a popular area to treat TB. In March of 1886, a newspaper article noted that Clinton Orcutt was suddenly called to Los Angeles, by the sickness of his son George. Two weeks later, a newspaper article noted that George had died.
