Margareta Ann (Lang) Koehmstedt, the daughter of Karl and Anna (Leyerer) Lang was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Altsattel, Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia. She died at the age of 86 years on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at the St. Andrew Health Center in Bottineau.

Following World War II, her family was forced off their farm by the Communist Russian Army and they relocated to Ausbach, West Germany. She worked at various jobs including the Robert Bosch factory for 17 years before immigrating to the United States in 1963. Margareta was united in marriage to Lloyd L. Koehmstedt of Overly on June 15, 1963, in Vestal, N.Y. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Rugby. Margareta loved being a farmer's wife and a mother. She always took pride in her gardens, the yard, her home and her two grandchildren who she was especially proud of. Lloyd died Aug. 17, 1990. Following his death, Margareta continued living in her own home until 2007 when she moved to the Haaland Estates in Rugby and later in 2009, she moved to the Good Samaritan Care Center in Bottineau.

She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America Rugby Court.

Survivors include: one son, Karl, and his wife, Brenda, of Rugby; two grandchildren, Kayla and Spencer; a brother-in-law, Donald Koehmstedt, of Overly; sisters-in-law, Patricia Cox, of Overly, and Lina Lang, in Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives, both in the United States and Germany and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Karl, Tony and Joseph; one sister, Anna Stark; and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday at 11 a.m. at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Fr. John Ejike, Celebrant.
