Born in West Concord in the house her mother had been born in, she was the daughter of Ralph E. and Mary H. Dakin. She was a graduate of Concord High and attended the Child Education Foundation (Montissouri Training School) in New York City.
She taught in Keene, Newburyport, Mass., and New Canaan, Conn. She ran her own nursery school in Concord after her marriage. She taught English as a Second Language basic classes at Second Start and was a volunteer tutor in Adult Basic Education and Adult Tutorial Program for 25 years.
She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, the Pierce Brigade, New Hampshire Council on Literacy and Tutor and Student Support Group, Saffron and Indigo Society of Needleworkers and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen.
She is survived by a daughter, Linea Ansaldo, and granddaughter, Leslie Ansaldo, both of Taylors, S.C.; a grandson, Joseph Ansaldo and his wife, Lesia, and great-grandson Alex of LaGrange, Ga.; a brother, Ward Dakin and his wife, Lois, of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Wales of Newton Upper Falls, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
