Funeral services were held here this afternoon for Mrs. Alice C. Close, wife
of Richard Close, she died tuesday of this week at the San Jose Hospital.
Her sudden death came as a very heavy blow to her husband, parents, other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the Trinity Methodist Church, and words of comfort were spoken by the Pastor Rev. Robert H. Bates. A large number of friends of the families both from San Jose and here were in attendance, while many beautiful floral offerings expressed sympathy and sorrow. Before her marriage, Mrs. Close was Miss Alice Corbaley. With her parents, Mr. and Mrs. V.M. Corbaley, she lived at Edenville, where Mr. Corbaley is the foreman of E.A. Hayes Ranch. Richard, her young husband, continued his studies in a school of pharmacy in San Francisco and his wife spent considerable time with her parents in Edenville. Mr. Close's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Close reside at 580 Palo Alto Avenue, Mountain View, and have a large circle of friends, who grew up in this community. Left to mourn the loss of the young woman are her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Corbaley, a sister, Mrs. A.S. Johnson of Burlingame, two brothers, J.V. Corbaley of Paso Robles and Ray Corbaley of Ventura County, and husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Close. Interment was made at the Alta Mesa Cemetery. NOTE: she died in chilbirth; the baby boy, Richard William Close, survived.
