Violet emigrated to Washington State from Oklahoma with her husband and two oldest children in about 1936 at request of his family members. They settled in Toppenish, Yakima Co., WA and had three more children. Divorced in about 1951 with Charles Norman returning to OK, Violet raised her five children on her own. The four oldest relocated primarily to the Seattle area where Violet moved with her youngest daughter in 1962. She lived in the Seattle area until 1997 when she moved to Tempe,AZ for a year, Hemet,CA for two years, for family members, then relocated to Gig Harbor,WA about 2000 where she spent the remaining years of her life living on her own until the last month in Seattle,WA. Her strength of will and mind, her style and grace, her integrity and intelligence, and her maternal love are her legacy for her survivors. She will be missed always and forever.

Violet's father was Joseph Julius DeMarsh. Joseph's father (Violet's grandfather) was Augustus DeMarsh. Augustus was born in the town of Frahier-et-Chatbier, located in the Haute Soane department in the Franche-Comte region of eastern France. He immigrated to USA about 1845 and married Joseph's mother, Maria Bradt DeMarsh, who was born in Cape Vincent, New York. Violet's mother, Sarah Rebecca Little, was born in Wisconsin, daughter of John Little who was born in Ontario Canada of an Irish emigrant father and English emigrant mother and daughter of Martha Jane Wiley, daughter of Irish emigrant father and mother.
