Deceased Name: Jan L. Bronston
Jan L. Bronston, 90, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center from complications with Alzheimer's.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Congregation Beth Shalom, with Rabbi Guy Green officiating. Burial will be in Independent Farane Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Jan was born April 15, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of Abe and Ida (Wutkin) Lebowich. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.
She married Arthur S. "Art" Bronston in 1944 in Walla Walla, Wash. He died Oct. 25, 1985, in Sioux City. She worked for the Department of Social Services for the state of Iowa for many years. She retired in October 1982.
She was a longtime active member of the Jewish community. She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and the former Shaare Zion Synagogue.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Mitch and Sydney Bronston of Sioux City and Scott and Karen Bronston of Lenexa, Kan.; two brothers and their wives, Ben and Grace Lebowich of Omaha and Howard and Marilyn Landers of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister and her husband, Ann and Art Cohen of Las Vegas; and two granddaughters, Talya Bronston and Rachel Bronston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
