Dorothy W. Weisensel, age 76, died on Sunday, November 5, 1995 after complications from a stroke at a Madison nursing home. She was born in Lancaster, WI. She married Roy Weisensel on June 17, 1942 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church. She, along with her husband, Roy, owned and operated the Ben Franklin store in Sun Prairie for 34 years. She made crafts for the Village Collection Craft Store. She taught grade school for 2 years at Sacred Hearts. She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and the 20th Century Club. Dorothy had a love for crafts, gambling and playing board games with Roy and her grandchildren. She also worked faithfully alongside her husband, Roy, for many Knights of Columbus activities. Survivors include a son, Thomas (Linda) Weisensel of Houston, TX; a daughter, Linda Conlon of Madison; four grandchildren, Shaun and Jennifer Weiensel and Judy and John Conlon; a brother, Hubert "Lefty" Laabs of Madison; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and three sisters. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 1995 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., with Father Antonio Rodriquez officiating. Burial will be held at the Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 1995 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to the Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund.
