MUSCATINE, Iowa - Robert Daniel Bosch, 88, Muscatine, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at the Carrington Place Care Center of Muscatine.

The Rev. Gary MacManus will officiate.

Casketbearers will be Bryan Rudolph, Nathan Rudolph, Sara Steimel, Heather Dahnke, Alex Steimel and Allen Cole. Memorials may be directed to the Muscatine Humane Society in his name.

He was born May 22, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of Glen and Freda (Scheixel) Bosch.

He was raised by his grandmother, Ada Milholen Bosch, after losing his parents at an early age. He married Miriam J. Kopf Aug. 24, 1947, at the First Baptist Church, in Muscatine.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII.

He had owned and operated Bosch Pest Control from 1949-87. He had also been instrumental in establishing several other area businesses, including Rid-a-Bird Inc., KRAM, American Chemical, Lumber Mart, Discount Furniture and Boriam Advertising.

He had served two terms as mayor of Muscatine in the late 50s and early 60s.

He had worked as a VA appraiser and was past president of the Iowa Pest Control Association.

He was a member and devoted contributor of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Muscatine.

He enjoyed gospel and country music and feeding the birds and squirrels.

He was very proud of his collection of articles of interesting and historical events, laminating many of them and placing in scrapbooks.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Miriam of Muscatine; a daughter, Kathy Dahnke and husband, Mike of Muscatine; and five grandchildren, Sara Steimel and husband, Alex, Heather Dahnke and fiancé, Allen Cole, Bryan Rudolph and wife, Lana, Nate Rudolph and Abby Rudolph.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amy Rudolph; a granddaughter, Emily Rudolph and a halfbrother, Kenneth Royster.
