Mr. Manzke was an alum of Hannibal LaGrange College class of 1947. Following his time as a student at HLG, Manzke received a bachelor of arts degree from William Jewell College and a master of religious education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He served for four years in the military, two of which were spent in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He later served a total of 14 years as a reviewer for the Illinois Department of Public Aid and as a caseworker for the Cook County Department of Public Aide in Chicago. Manzke and his wife, Marian, spent six years as Baptist foreign missionaries in Ethiopia, where he was director of a Christian youth center. He also served for more than 15 years at Emerson Baptist Church in Philadelphia, MO.

Mr. Manzke was an assistant professor of sociology at HLG for 25 years. He taught Sociology, Marriage and the Family, Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Evangelism and Educational Psychology.
During his time at HLG Mr. Manzke was recognized with numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1993 Mr. Manzke was recognized by Hanibal Regional Hospital in 1993 for his many years of dedication and service as a chaplain at the hospital.

Survivors were his wife, Marian Manzke, and two sons.
