Hattie Pauline Johnson, born Dikeman, was born in the Fall, October 2, 1886, in Dawson or Lincoln County, Nebraska, to Benjamin and Phila (Godfrey) Dikeman. She was the oldest daughter, and second of six children.

Hattie spent her childhood on a ranch on Birdwood Creek, a few miles north and east of Sutherland, Nebraska, between Sutherland, and Hershey, where her father had chosen to homestead around the time of Hattie's birth.

On Christmas Day, 25 December, 1907, Hattie married Ivan Owen Johnson, another Birdwood Community resident. The couple remained here, in the Nebraska sandhills, all of their life. Hattie was a housewife, mother, and skilled seamstress.

Ivan and Hattie Johnson had one daughter and five sons: Baby Boy Johnson - died in infancy, Myrtle Evelyn (Bedker)(Daly)1910-1971, Willis Windom 1913-1991, Clarence Loyal 1915-1989, Victor E 1918-1930, and Harold Owen 1922-2002. Hattie was a very loving mother and grandmother as well.

Near the end of summer in 1948, Hattie was widowed when her husband Ivan passed away from a lingering illness.

Hattie passed away at age 75, in late summer as well, August 30, 1962. She is buried beside husband Ivan, and near her son Victor and daughter Myrtle, at Sutherland Rivereview Cemetery that looks out over the beautiful Platte river valley of Lincoln County.
