Henrich Wilhelm Rocklage, born in 1829, was a native of Hanover, Lower Saxony (Niedersachen), Germany.

He had immigrated to the United States, settling in St. Louis, Missouri.

On July 21, 1858, Henrich (aka: "Henry"), married Catherine Wilhelmine Freese. Their marriage took place at Saint Peter's Evangelical Church (United Church of Christ), in the City of St. Louis, Missouri.

Henry and Catherine Rocklage were parents of at least four children. Their first child, died in infancy. Their second child, a daughter named Emma Wilhelmine Rocklage, was born in 1861. Henry and Catherine were blessed with twin daughters, Katherine (aka: "Katie") and Marie Amelia Rocklage, in 1863. Sadly, little Marie Amelia died the following year, in 1864. According to family accounts, little Katie was described as being a "frail" child, and was "crippled".

In the early fall of 1872, the family was devasated by the untimely death of Catherine Rocklage. It is believed that Catherine had died, while giving birth or shortly thereafter. The infant did not survive, and Catherine died on the 10th of September 1872, at age 41. She and her baby were buried on the 11th of September 1872, in Saint Peter's Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

"Henry", a widower, with two young daughters to raise had met widow Anna Marie Stalhberg-Rehling, mother of five children, whose husband had died 13 days after Catherine.

A year later, on 30 September 1873, Heinrich Wilhelm Rocklage, married widow Anna Marie Stalhberg-Rehling, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in St. Louis, Missouri. As a result, the blended family of seven children would be joined together as one ... or so it was believed at that time.

In the following years, four more children would be born to "Henry" and Anna Marie. Daughter Henriette Katherine "Ida" Rocklage, was born in 1874; Lena Rocklage, was born in 1877; Heinrich Rocklage, in 1879; and last but not least, Hulda Rocklage, in 1885.

Heinrich Wilhelm Rocklage, died on September 17, 1897, at the age of 68. "Henry" and Anna would have celebrated their 24th Wedding Anniversary, on the 30th of September, of that same year.
