Caleb C. Clark was born July 6, 1827 at Chatauqua County, New York and died Feb. 13, 1906 at the home of his son A.W. Clark, age 78 years, 7 months and 7 days.
He was married in 1847 to Phoebe Jane Dawley at Jamestown, N.Y. His wife died in 1898. Two Children survived him, Mrs. Caroline Edmonds of Sheldon, Iowa and Arvin W. Clark of Gettysburg, S.D. who lives north of town and whom he has made his home with since they came to Dakota in 1883. He is survived by one brother Nicholas Clark of Union County, Pa. He taught school when a young man and was a member of Wesleyn Methodist Church and of IOOF until he came to Dakota. He was a quiet gentlemanly and ineffensive and well thought of by his neighbors.
The funeral will be held at the house at 2 p.m. today and the remains laid to rest in Gettysburg cemetery. Rev. Frank Fox will preach the funeral service.
