Elizabeth K. Fasbender, daughter of Pater and Elizabeth Fasbender. She was one of 11 children, was born June 25, 1862, in Madison, Wisconsin.
When a small child she moved with her parents to Minnesota and made their home near Wauseca for several years. In 1880 the family moved to S.D. where Mr. Fasbender filed a homestead in Brookings County near Bruce, S.D.
In 1884, she in company with her sister Lena, and other friends, immigrated by team and wagon to Potter County where the two sisters filed a homestead near the county line west of Hoven, near LaBeau.
Here she met Arvin Wesley Clark to whom she was united in marriage in the summer of 1885. Mr. Clark filed a tree claim four and a half miles north of Gettysburg, near Eagle Peak, where they resided until the time of her husbands death on July 4, 1916.
Since that time, Mrs. Clark spent her time visiting among her children and helping with their work in every manner she possibly could. Always looking for the welfare of others and particularly the smaller children for which she had much sympathy and love. Although she was in ill health for several years and part of the time practically helpless, she never complained and tried not to make work for others.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Cyrus F. Clark of Ft. Benton, Montana and Arvin B. Clark of Camas, Montana; two daughters, Mrs. Matt (Grace) Simon of Lebanon, S.D. and Mrs. John F. Engel of Hoven, S.D.; nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Fasbender of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and Frank Fasbender of Bruce, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Mary) Behl of Bruce, Mrs. Sophia Tobin of Milbank, and Mrs. Frances Eichorst of Arlington and a host of other relatives and friends.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Fri. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hoven with Fr. Rev. Moyr. Helmbrecht officiating at the Requiem Mass.
Internment was made in the Gettysburg cemetery beside her husband with Rev. FR. Richard Seibel of Hoven officiating at the grave.
Pallbearers were Sylvester and Royce Simon; Lebanon, Francis and Vincent Engel; Gornam, Lawrence Engel and Alfred Baus, of Hoven. All grandchildren of the deceased.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were; Cyrus F. Clark, Ft. Benton, Montana, Mrs. Sophia Tobin, Milbank, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Matt Simon of Lebanon, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Simon, Lebanon, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Engel and children and Francis Engel of Gorman, Mrs. Hans Vikre, Lebanon, Mrs. Harold Bergerson and children and Victorine Simon, Huron, S.D.
