Auburn, Ind. - Duaine H. Karnes, 92, of Auburn died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn.
Mr. Karnes was a quality control manager for the Dana Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Auburn Church of Christ. He was a past member of the Edgerton Masonic Lodge.
He was born Jan 27, 1918, in Defiance County, Ohio, to Arthur E. and Frieda E. (Ebinger) Karnes.
He married Sarah "Roceal" Gurtner on Febuary 11, 1940, in Angola, and she died November 2, 1956. He then married DeVella M. (Sleek) Dewitt on July 11, 1958, in Auburn and she survives.
Also surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Judy E. and Don Frank of Stryker, Ohio, Karen R. and Phil Landel of Auburn, Cheryl S. and David Peck of Farmington, Arkansas, Christine A. and Jerry Wilhelm of Waterloo, and Freida L. and Randy Michael of Auburn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Duaine H. Karnes II and Karen Karnes of Hamilton, and Douglas E. and Rita Karnes of Knoxville, Tennessee; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur E. "Junior" and Alice Karnes of Edgerton, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and a son-in-law, John N. Grimm.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Auburn Church of Christ, 208 West Eighteenth Street, Auburn, with Pastor Douglas E. Karnes officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio.
Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home. 875 S. Wayne Street, Waterloo and also one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to the Auburn Church of Christ or the Alzheimer's Association.
