Clarinda Abigail Walker, daughter of John Walker and his 4th wife, Abigail Sanford, was born 07 August 1852 in Farmington, Davis County, Utah. In 1859, Abigail died in Carlton Township, Tama County, Iowa, where her future son-in-law, Frederic Ezra Strong, lived at the time with his parents and family.

Clarinda and Frederic Strong married in Farmington, Utah on her birthday in 1870.

The young couple returned to Tama County, Iowa, where their first two children, Tama Irene and Frederic Orrin, were born. By 1875, the family was settled in Skamokawa, Wahkiakum, Washington Territory, the birthplace of daughter Elsie May.

Clarinda and Frederic Strong divorced in 1880. Clarinda remained in Washington where she died in 1935.

Frederic returned to Tama County where he married Ella Barnes in 1894. Ella was the sister of Lucinda L. "Lucy" Barnes, wife of Frederic's brother Charles Keller Strong. Sometime after Ella's death in 1907, Frederic returned to Washington where he died in 1928.
