Kelvin D. Meeks, better known as Kez, left this life peacefully Nov. 17, 2010. He left a loving family that will miss him greatly. Kez was born May 18, 1931, in Kanab, Utah, to Wilford Priddy Meeks and Cora Whittaker. He grew up as a hometown boy learning to get the work done and work hard. He married Helen Troy from Orderville, July 6, 1951, in Fredonia, Ariz. They later were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George LDS Temple June 4, 1964. They have three children, Max Troy Meeks (Claudia), Micheal "K" Meeks (Tanya) and Stacey Kim Meeks Afflerbach (Glenn). He worked on the movie sets in Kanab and was considered an extra in a lot of those. In November 1952, Kez and Helen moved away from their home in Kanab and went to Las Vegas, where they have lived since. He worked for Titanium, City of Henderson as a reserve officer and later became a master electrician working for himself and later IBEW Union Local 357. Kez was a man from the old school. If it could be fixed, he would fix it. If there was fish to catch, he was catching them. If he was not doing these things, he was watching the history channel, Nova or reading. He craved knowledge and he had many things to teach his grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife, Helen; three children; nine grandkids; and eight great-grandkids, with one on the way. We will all remember him with love and respect and as a patriarch of our family. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway. Services and burial will be in Kanab.
