Son of Rudolf & Irma (nee Hajek) Kolba of Harrison, NJ; grandson of Thomas & Mary (nee Hehne) Kolba of Harrison and Franz & Maria (nee Zaharitze) Hajek of Budapest, Hungary; married Mary (Mae) Pienciak of Elizabeth, NJ; brother of infant Thomas Kolba (d.1909), Mrs. Mary Kolba Schaaf of Hunterdon Co., NJ; Elizabeth Kolba of Harrison, & Edward Kolba of North Arlington, NJ

Born in St.James Hospital, Newark, on Labor Day 1911, Bill Kolba was the 2nd of Rudolf & Irma Kolba's 5 children, an infant brother having predeceased him. Raised in Harrison, NJ and educated at Newark College of Engineering, he was a Prudential Insurance Co. executive for 41 years. During WWII he served in England, France & Germany as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. After his marriage to the former Mary (Mae) Pienciak, he resided in Elizabeth. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, his interests included travel, photography, & computers. He was an honorary life-member of the Prudential Athletic Association & the Holy Name Society of St. Adalbert's Church. Predeceased by his wife in December 1995, he suffered a fatal heart attack 3 months later at the age of 84.
