Harlan came to Chico in 1907. He was a Pullman Carpenter, building and repairing Pullman rail cars for most of his life. He worked for a period of this time for the Sacramento Northern Railroad at the car barns in Chico. he was the father of Frank Pingrey and Albert Pingrey. His parents were Betsey (Chase) and Albert W. Pingrey who was a Methodist Episcopol Minister in New York and the midwest. His wife was Emma Nancy (Shay) Pingrey who is buried in the same cemetery.

Chico Record (Chico, California) 11 Jan 1929, Friday Page 4: Harlan Pingrey Dies At Richfield Colony. Harlan Judson Pingrey, 65 years old, died yesterday morning at his home in the Richfield colony near Corning, after a residence there of eight years. He had lived in California for 22 years, although he was a native of Illinois. He was a retired carpenter.

Mr. Pingrey was a member of the Woodmen of the World and of the First Methodist Church of Chico.

He leaves a widow, Mrs. Martha Pingrey; two sons, Frank J. and Albert D. Pingrey of Chico; two brothers, B.C. And A.W. Pingrey of Santa Cruz, and one sister, Mrs. Della Bishop of Michigan.

Funeral services are being completed by Bicknell & Moore.
