Leon Arthur Jennings Sr. of Port Jervis, a printer for the Ulster County Community College in Stone Ridge and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, doing what he loved, traveling, in Rochester. He was 78 years of age.
The son of the late Arthur and Nellie Laufersweiler Jennings, he was born April 1, 1925, in Monticello.
Serving a long time with the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Bailey-Richman Post No. 9588, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Monticello.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Stokes Jennings; a son, Leon Arthur Jennings Jr. of Port Jervis; a daughter, Laura Beck, and her fiance, David Tompkins of Accord; a brother, Walter Jennings of the state of Florida; a sister, Rita DeSimone of Monticello; two grandchildren, Sarah and Hunter; and a niece, Sherry.
Services were held Saturday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Burial with military honors was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
