Mary Williams was one of six sisters born to German immigrants Mary Radke and John Williams (John Willensky Jr. in the 1910 U.S. Census). She married Joseph Aloysius Franz Sr. circa 1908. She and Joseph may have met because (in 1900) her older sister, Julia, had worked at the Ansonia clock factory where Joseph's father worked. She and Joseph had a single child, Joseph Aloysius Jr., and four grandchildren. She loved pretty things and shared that love with her granddaughter. She lived in Park Slope all her long life.
