Regis E. Dixon
Regis E. Dixon, 82, 14 Indiana Drive, died Thursday evening [actually about 3 PM] Sept. 9, 1999, at Altoona Hospital.
He was born May 6, 1917, in Altoona, the son of the late James and Alice (Butler) Dixon. He married Elizabeth Vaile Feb. 15, 1943, in Cleveland.
Mr. Dixon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He retired as a sheet metal worker and pipefitter from Conrail in 1978, following 42 years of service.
Mr. Dixon was a 1936 graduate of Altoona High School.
He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the 8th Air Force.
Mr. Dixon enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
He was a member of Sinking Valley Country Club, the American Legion, chairman, financial secretary and member of local No. 525 Sheet Metal Workers Union for 25 years and vice general chairman of District Council No. 152 of Sheet Metal Workers International.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Jennifer Loucks of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sons: Richard of Altoona and James of Hackettstown, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received form 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at The Stevens Mortuary Inc.
DIXON -- The funeral of Regis E. Dixon of 14 Indiana Drive will be held with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Committal will be made at Calvary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Sunday at The Sevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., where a vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday.
