Evelyn Janine Devereaux died peacefully at home November 24th following a valiant 9 year battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Col. Ray Devereaux (USAF).
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ray (Eve) Devereaux of Gautier, her son Kenneth Black (Nicole) of Chicago and six grandchildren; Alexandra, Colton, Bella Kallie, Canyon and Tygert, and her sister, Rae Michele Hardy (Robert) of Pascagoula, MS; niece Meredith Hardy of Tallahassee, FL; and nephew Simon Hardy of Pensacola, FL.
Janine held a M.S. Degree in Library Science from the University of Southern MS and served six years in the U.S. Air Force as an equipment operator and crew member with the Hurricane Hunter Squadron at Keesler AFB, Biloxi.
Following her military service her professional career included over twenty years; Federal Service as Base Librarian at U.S. Military Bases in the United States, Hawaii, The Azores and Germany. In her final assignment she served as Head Librarian and Chief of Special Research for NOAA in Charleston, SC.
She was well known world-wide throughout the NOAA organization for her keen intellect and sense of humor and was very much appreciated by her peers.
