Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Tues. Jan. 4, 1966, p. 24:8. Joseph Blatz Dies at 98 at St. Agnes. Funeral Services Set for Resident of Mt. Calvary. Joseph Blatz, 98, a resident of Mt. Calvary, R. 1, died at 6:05 a.m. today at St. Agnes Hospital. Mr. Blatz was born June 1, 1867, in the Town of Taycheedah, the son of Lawrence and Mary Ditter Blatz. He married Anna Simon and she died in 1909. On June 14, 1911, he married Helen Schneider. Her death occurred in 1944. He had lived and farmed his entire life in the Town of Forest, was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Dotyville and associated with the Holy Name Society of the church. Survivors include six sons, Leo, Armstrong, Edwin, Fond du Lac, Ray, Chilton, Lawrence, Milwaukee, Jerry, Town of Forest and Frank Petrie, Malone; two daughters, Mrs. James Blackmore, Armstrong and Mrs. Alvina Reed, Chicago; 46 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son and one daughter. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Rev. Arthur Baertlein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Funeral services for Joseph Blatz, who died Tuesday, were held at 10:30 a.m. today from the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and 11 a.m. from St. Michael’s Church, Dotyville. Rev. Arthur Baertlein was celebrant of the Solemn Requiem High Mass, with Rev. Lawrence Waleske, as deacon, and Rev. Charles Loehr, subdeacon. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Blatz Jr., James Blackmore Jr., Gerald Blatz, Jerome Blatz, John Blatz and Kenneth Hansen.
